ABOUT THE PhD PROGRAM IN ART HISTORY

Welcome to the PhD Program in Art History! The Program is dedicated to the development of scholars, teachers, museum curators, art critics, and other arts professionals. It provides students with a general background in the history of art to prepare them to serve their discipline and their communities in all areas of cultural endeavor.

Admission to the PhD Program in Art History is competitive; we receive around 150 applications each year, and accept only 10 students. More information about the admissions process can be found here.

Serving as an accompaniment to the Program’s primary website, the newly-launched Art History Academic Commons offers a stream of up-to-date content, including news, events, and profiles of students, faculty, and alumnae/i.
